IHK Nord Westfalen (Chamber of Industry and Commerce)

“We’re campaigning for North Rhine-Westphalia!”

The IHK Nord Westfalen is the seventh largest chamber of industry and commerce in Germany, representing the overall interest of 120,000 member companies based in the Münsterland and the Emscher-Lippe region toward politics and administration. For this purpose, 4,000 entrepreneurs and professionals from the member companies cooperate on an honorary basis with about 170 full-time staff members.

The IHK Nord Westfalen (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) is a self-administrative institution based on which the regional economy handles tasks on its own that are transferred by the state. For example, it supervises over 25,000 training relationships in about 140 professions that require training in about 6,500 apprenticing companies. It issues almost 40,000 certificates of origin for foreign trade annually. At the same time, the IHK Nord Westfalen (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) is a service-oriented service provider that gives support, beyond governmental tasks, to companies to maintain and improve their competitive edge.

The central goal of the IHK Nord Westfalen (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) is the best possible economic development of the region. For this reason, it also stands up for strengthening Münster as a centre of conferences and conventions. From the point of view of the IHK, the KONGRESSINITIATIVE MS is an active contribution to promote regional economy, since it's in particular the trade and the catering business in Münster and the Münsterland, but also a great many other industries in the region that take advantage of Münster as a potent location for conferences and conventions.
